The Georgian Bay Surf Club & Surf The Greats invite you for a surf season kick-off event. Join us on Tuesday, October 30th at Gibson & Co in Collingwood as we spread the word about lake surfing, connect with other surfers and celebrate our love for cold water surfing in Canada.

Surf the Greats is putting together a concise Wave Forecasting Workshop to teach our community the science of wave generation, how to predict waves and how to use the tools available for us on the Great Lakes.

Surf Mission: Georgian Bay Poster

Meet other Great Lake surfers and get stoked with the screening of two sick Canadian surf films:

Hailing from the shores of Nova Scotia, we are pleased to present you with 'Perilous Sea'. Directed by Mike Bromley and Ryan Meichtry, this frozen water, trans-continental surf odyssey has won multiple awards at the Florida Surf Film Festival and has been selected to various festivals around the globe. Featuring Noah Wegrich, Noah Cohen, Sam Hammer, Wilem Banks, Kevin Schulz, Dave Anderson, Will Skudin, Logan Landry, Noah Lane, and Heidar Eliasson, the film was shot on location in Iceland, Ireland, and the Canadian Maritimes.

Representing the Greats, London based filmmaker Andrew Wyton will screen his new short 'Bloom Lagoon' raising awareness about environmental issues we are faced with while featuring some amazing freshwater surfing by Justin Hembree, Daniel Steiner, Nick Coughlin, Aaron Black, and more. The film introduces you to a rare human survivor in post-apocalyptic world six years After Water (AW). The world’s freshwater supply has become too toxic to support mass human life. This lone survivor is mystically transported back in time to the present day, where he and his surf buddies were still able to enjoy the raw natural beauty of the lakes, surfing in some of the most extreme conditions, just before the toxifying effects of agricultural and industrial pollution reached a tipping point.

If you live in Collingwood or anywhere in Georgian Bay, this is a night not to be missed. There's a fee to attend the forecasting workshop, but the rest of the night is free. There will be affordable tall boys and lots of prizes from our sponsors from Rip Curl.
